The first annual Alumni Banquet of the Mystic High School was held at the Nlystic Methdoist church Satuiday Vlay 31 1958 The ladies of the church serxed '1 dmnei of ham with all the fIlITll'Y1lI'lgS to 410 persons The committe in charge of the banquet was Mrs MHVIS Smith Stlekler Mrs Bai bara Ducey Kauzlarich and Montelle Forsyth The success of the ewent was due to the many hours spent by this committee tracing thc M H S alumni from 1902 to the present years graduating class Much valuable assistance xx as gn en the Committe The arriving alumni and their husbands or wnes registeied at the high school prior to the dinner Following the serving in the church basement Mayor Forsyth called a business meeting in the church auditorium Invocation was given by the Rev William Inskeep Mr Forsyth then welcomed th alumni and a response was given by Ray McFall Otto Scafinger was introduced and it was announced that he was retiring after serving as custodian of the Mystic school for 21 years One member of Mystic High s first graduating class was present Mrs Ruth Porter She was introduced and a sidelight brought out in that the first class of 1902 and the last class of 1958 were both represented by but one member the latter being Byron Warmck It had been hoped that gohn Agans former long time superintendent at Mystic would be able to be present for the festivities but he w s unable to make the trip However he sent greetings to those present and was vsith them 1n memory A short musical program was pres nted consisting of a vocal solo by Beryl Browns accompanied by Mrs Irene Hefner an accordian number by Mrs Louise Rinehart and a vocal by Leah Ducey who was also accompanied by Mis Irene Hefner One family was present that had graduated three generations from M H S and Vhs Edna McGrann Clark her son Ted Clark his son William Clark vueie introduced Mr. Forsyth then proposed that an alumni association be formed and called for nom- inations for officers. At this time Mr. McFall stepped forth and offered an entire slate of officers for the consideration of those assembled and this was promptly ac- cepted by a rousing vote. Those unanimously elected were Monte Forsyth president' Donelda Olsasky vice president' Barbara Kauzlarich secretary' and Max is Stickler treasurer. Dues were set at 51.00 per year. with assessments to be taken if necessary to defray expenses. 'Ihe remainder of the evening was spent in calling the roll of classes present with members standing to give their names and present address. It is hoped that next year's event will be an even bigger success, and anyone who knows the names and addresses of alumni not contacted this year, please forward these to Mrs. Kauzlarich, secretary, so they may be reached for next year's banquet.
