THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE WENT OUT FOR CROSS COUNTR Y AND THE BOBCAT BEAT THEM BOTH. Coach Towne (Smiley) The young M.P. boys cross-country team placed third in the dis'trict meet at Bandon and first in the sub-district meet at Coquille. The number one runner was senior foreign exchange student Juha-Matti Lampola. The next five runners were sophomores led by Brent Glover and Mark Duncan. The boys' league dual meet record was 4 wins and 2 losses including a 29-28 loss to Bandon. The JV team placed second in the district meet. Myrtle Point started a girls cross-country team this year but finished with only four girls, five are needed to make a team. Rosie McGarity was number one, followed by Donna Davenport, Tina Works, and Mary Ann Stewart. Both teams had an enjoyable season with weekend picnic runs at Loon Lake and at the beach being the most enjoyable workouts. Left to Right: Top row.
