The Daughters of the American Revolution award annually a $100 scholarship to one girl in Coos County. Other schools competing for this award are Coos Bay, North Bend, Coquille, and Bandon. The faculty of each of these schools chooses one girl from the senior class on the basis of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. The girl who wins the county award has an opportunity to compete in the state contest. Should she win this, she is eligible to try for a National award, the highest one of which is a $1000 scholarship. Ann Robison was the girl chosen from our high school as a candidate for this award. She won the Babe Ruth Sportsmanship Award last year when she was a junior. She has been secretary of the Student Body for two years, and has ably represented state and district meetings.
