We have spent four short years in Myrtle Point. In these years we have crowded many helpful and happy experiences. We are now leaving our dear high school days to go into the world to continue our education or to work, hoping to be successful citizens of America. In the year 1948, we entered Myrtle Point as fresnmen. During this year our officers were Pres., Bill Brooks; Vice Pres.. Edward Harris; Secy-Treas., Glenda Putnam; Sgt.-at-arms. Bob Schnur; Class Representative, Alan Cunningham. Our advisor was Mr. Beckham. We were put under a great strain during our initiation. Now being sophomores, this was our opportunity for revenge in initiating the Freshmen. This year our President was Alan Cunningham; Vice Pres. , Douglas Harris; Secy., Phyllis Shelton; Treasurer. Darlene Ford; Sgt. -at-arms, Richard Roush; Representative. Vance Carlson. Our advisor was Mrs. Beyers. To raise money we sold popcorn, candy, and corsages. As juniors we had completed the two toughest years and were taking up the duties as upperclassmen. Officers for the year included Pres. Alan Cunningham; Vice Pres., Dick Briggs; Secy., Betty Lou Meyer; Treas., Jack Downey; Representative, Vance Carlson; Sgt.-at-arms, Douglas Harris. The main object of this year was to put on the prom and banquet. We reached this climax on April 21 as we presented our theme Enchanted Forrest” which was said to have been one of the most beautifully decorated inMyitle Point. Our Junior Play The Brat was a comedy and left many memories of hard work and fun. We were determined to make good as seniors. This being our senior and last year, we have had our most enjoyable year of all. We had as officers Pres., Vance Carlson; Sgt. -at-arms, Jack Boone; Vice Pres., Ross Pinkley; Secy., Phyllis Shelton; Treas.. Dick Briggs; Representative. Alan Cunningham. We were proud of Ross'Pinkley, who was chosen the most valuable player of the county, and Richard Roush and Edward Harris who made the All-Star Football Team. Our senior play Rest Assured was a successful event this year. The chosen characters fit and played their parts exceptionally well. For our assemblies we had two one-act Christmas plays which were: Pop Reads a Christmas Carol and Not even a Mouse. The remainder of the year we prepared for Skip Day, Graduation, Baccalaureate; and hoped for a successful banquet and prom. We wish to express our thanks to Mrs. Harper and Mr. Kittredge for their wonderful help and co-operation, counseling and guidance during our last and final year at our beloved Myrtle Point High. We must and want to say that we would not, and could not have reached this goal had it not been for our wonderful parents, teachers, and principal who have encouraged and helped us with untiring strength. The fate of matrimony had already captured Ed Harris. Eugene Winningham, and Mary Schuessler way back in 52—the rest you can figure out for yourself. Eloise Hartley is still slaving away in the bakery. She and Jack have increased the population considerably. Glenda Putnam is still working in the bank—she hasn't found the combination to the vault yet. Robert Paul is now a C.P.A. The C.P. stands for Certified Public andl leave it to your imagination to what the A stands for. Colleen Morris finally got her cowboy even if she did wait five years for him to graduate. Edmond Reiten is now a professional wrecker. You remember he practiced on the McKinley bus. Phyllis Shelton is still trying to convince the world that she can get a husband. Stanley Roberts and Teddy McElwain are still fighting with their sisters, and trying to convince the world they are woman haters. Mary Ann McNeel is a sad sight! Guess she just wasn't meant for a P.E. teacher. At Camp Cook, California we see Sergeant Alan Cunningham giving orders (as usual) to Privates Pinkley, Caffey, Downey, Brooks, Hammack, and Harris. Dick Briggs is still there in spite of the letters he wrote to President Carlson. Carlson has forgotten who his old friends were, and has picked up new ones! a little corrupt. They are George Buchanan, Head of Dept, of War; Frank Crook, Head of Dept, of Agriculture; and Dick Adams, Sec. of State. Of course Ron Halter is Washington's twitchey undertaker. We leave His Excellency and look in on a common man................Don Peterson farming his five acres. In New York City we see that Wanda Hills has a television program. Richard Roush really made a hit in Hollywood--the women are crazy about him. Louise McCormick is up for academy award. She acts in between divorces. Irel Wooden designs her wardrobe and Gloria Taylor dresses her hair. Another promising Hollywood debutant is Reta Keller. She plays the drums in Bill Gilpatrick's German band. In South Africa we see Mary Ellen Hardman. She is now queen of the Aulu-Aulu Hookanongwa tribe. We also see Lois Wallace who is Mary Ellen's favorite missionary. We see some other members of the tribe: John Arnold, the mad witch doctor; BigChiefHead Huntress, Joan Worley, and among her treasures are Keith Hoffman, Charles Porter, and Bill Evans. But oh my. how different they look! David Haberly has devoted his life to that noble profession of committing the perfect crime. Norma Jean Cole has lived in a dream ever since May 28, 1952. She just can't believe she really got her diploma. Elizabeth Wiley is really in a mess—they just don't keep hopeless cases in Salem. Loretta Wilson has gone to Mars to make a new life for herself and Betty Lou Meyer has gone along to keep her out of trouble if she can.
