i fa L SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Dear Dalry Do you remember September 6 l938' lt was then a most remarkable bunch of Freshxes ln clean new bxbs and tuckers presented themselves at the portals of Myrtle Polnt Hxgh School Don t you thmk that same mnocent lookmg bunch of Freshmen has developed through four years nnto a class the lxke of whxch has newer been approached xn former years I remember how proud they were when Bernxce Burgess and Lyle Olson won the Freshmen Sophomore debate for them and say of all the buttons I saw lymg around the day they heard they came out thnrd on the mterclass rxvalry cup and the mxghty Senxors were fourth Remember drary when they presented the Junlor Play 'lhe I-lotten tot ? My I just about splxt my sides laughmg It wasn t such a laughxng matter that Blue Mondey when the rest of the student body found the Junxors had skxpped school But remember how the student body had the laugh on them the next few weeks when they had to stay m study hall durmg the noon hour and wrxte a 2 O00 word theme on The Recreatlonal F3CllllIl9S of Oregon They had a lot of fun glVlHg the Junxor Senior Banquet whxch was held on March 2 at the Methodnst church Thelr Semor year they were so proud of thexr football heroes who had helped to wm the champxonshnp for Myrtle Polnt Hxgh School Other out standtng members of the Semor class of l942 were Evelyn Morrxson edltor presldent and yell leader and Bob Peel edltor of the Myrtle Leaf The Semor play Heart Trouble followed xn the successful footsteps of the Junlor play The cast xncluded Louxse Dement Lola Trxpp Beverly Sparks Maman Hendershott Wxlma Wolff Lyle Olson Rex Stevens Bob Peel Kenneth Strong and Eldon Root Mr Church dxrected the play They thoroughly enjoyed the Junxor Semor Banquet and prom whxch the Junlors gave ln thelr honor Of course the student body wasn t very surprxsed that Aprxl mornmg when the Senxors falled to appear at school I st1ll have to smlle when I thunk of the Senlors at the Baccalaureate Stlll they dxdn t look so frlghtened that mght as they dld a few nlghts la ter when they were handed the1r dnplomas Presldents durmg the four years were Forrest La Flamme Rex Stevens Wendell Hall and Charles Wxlson advxsors were Mxss DuRette Mrs Rlck ard Mr Schaad and Mr Dallas Although as you no doubt dlscovered dear dlary they were a quxet unassummg bunch but when thelr compressed and bottled up energy shall burst forth xn effervescent myrxads of accomplxshments then shall they prove themselves worthy of mentxon on the Immortal pages of hxstory as estab llshmg for good old M P I-I S Q 1 V 1 P V 3 A 1 of the annual: Lola Tripp, Girls' League president: Stella Lemon.
