From left to right back row: Mr. Kraxberger, Larry Orwick, Lloyd Deardorff, Brad Luton, Paul Redlinq- shafer, Kenny Willis, Melvin Mortensen, Wally Faulkner, Guerdon Golf, Manager Jim Henryg Front row: Ray Froehlich, Jim Carlock, Greg Bowman, John Si mpson, Dee Jones. Frank Radford, Ken Sisco. TRACK Opening the season with only two returning lettermen-Ray Adsit, and John Simpson, Coach Bill Kraxburger was faced with the task of rebuilding a track squad. Practices have been handi- capped since the track is not yet completedg but, nevertheless, the inexperienced squad of 25 boys has shown great spirit and interest. Veteran John Simpson, holder of the 880 and mile school records, has shown his usual spark in the early meets this year. With continued improvement he will very likely better his own rec- ords before this track season is over. Some of the best performances of season have been made by Jerry Jones. Already he has set a new school record in the javelln event by winning first place in the county meet with an effort of 146' IO . Ken Willis has been a consistent scorer in the hurdle event. He is ably assisted by Frank Radford, a junior, who has shown continued improvement in both the high and low hurdles. Commendable performances by freshman sprinter David Doud and sophomore high jumper Richard Geer have greatly aided the track squad. ln addition there are considerable talent and interest among the under classmen, which looks promising for the future. Since our facilities are inadequate, it will be impossible to hold any home meets at Myrtle C1'eek this year. Howeve1', a ten-meet schedule for meets at other schools has been made. They include Myrtle Creek vs. Roseburg Roseburg Invitational Willamette Relays Myrtle Creek vs. Sutherlin Fanyonville, Glendale, and Myrtle Creek J. D. J. League Meet Sub District State Meet
