SENIOR CLASS HISTORY September 30 1946 the present sen1or class Wlth forty three expectant faces plesented xtself as freshmen to delve 1nto the mysterles of read1n r1t1n and r1thmet1c on the h1gh school level Our flrst act was to elect Gary Burnett as our class presldent and select our class colors flower and motto Durlng the course of the year our ma1n event was 1n1t1at1on Dressed 1n all sorts of odd clothes and palnted as Indxans we made our appearance on th1s fateful day After survlvmg the experlence we lost our tltle as green freshmen and became off1c1al hlgh school members When we entered school as sophomoxes our membersh1p had decreased to 35 students Maxme Kusler was elected th1S year for pres1dent of our class Oux mam Obllglng actxvlty was to nmtxate the freshmen Thxs was accompllshed on Oct 3 1947 We came back to school 1n our Junlor year look1ng forward to bemg uppel classmen After havmg elected George McDan1el as class presldent we began to plan money maklng projects ln order to be able to g1V9 the semors a good banquet and prom We presented the play The Campbells Are Commg on March 11 1949 It was a tremendous success and recelved the hlghest of compllments Our candy store ln the Off1C8 of the school brought m money and we sold candy lce cream and pop at all the ball games We scheduled the annual Junlor Senxor Banquet and Prom on May 20 1949 at Kennedys Dutch M111 Thls was our reward for all our hard work The theme of the prom was Hxtch Your Wagon to a Star In September of 1949 we entered MCHS as the hxgh and m1ghty senlors wnth many expecta tlons Our f1rst act was to elect Evelyn Rutledge as our presldent In March the class of 1950 took a fleld tr1p to Salem Oregon where they v1s1ted the State Penltentlary Mental Hospltal and Fa1rv1ew Homes We planned our long awalted Sk1p Day for Apr1l 26 1950 We went to Crater Lake and other pomts south All at once we reallzed that lt was June 7 the date of our graduatlon Durmg the four years we were 1n hlgh school seventeen guls and two boys dropped from our Maxme Kusler Shxrley Chaney Bob Matthews Bob Froehl1ch Kenneth Neal and Tom Rxcc attended school at Myrtle Creek s1nce the flrst grade We are proud of these boys who have rece1ved letters 1n football basketball and baseball Gary Burnett Bob Matthews Tom Hamm Tom R166 Bob Froehl1ch George Paroz George McDan1el Kenny Neal James Holder Edgar Holllnger and Calvln Clack Those who have recelved letters ln other sports are Don Elckhoff Carl Walm and Don Shelton Maxme Kusler Pat McK1nney Shlrley Chaney and Patty Hogg ale the g1rls who have recelved letters 1n g1rls sports The g1rls who recewed letters for be1ng cheer leaders are Pat Jackson Lora Osborn and Emma Lou Weber 'bf svxmx 1 , - ' ' h - , 3 , . 1 1 . 1 v ' - ' ' 1 , ' ss ' 1 ' ' 1 y - ' rs ' ' ., , . . . 1 . 1 . y 7 l .
