SENIOR HIGH PRINCIPALS A major social concern today is the “aging of our youth. By aging I do not mean the chronological sequence of life; I mean all those items, i.e. AIDS, substance abuse, decision-making minus the family foundation, that impact upon the experiential background for such decisions. Actually, such aging is not a product of the ’80’s. It has been in evidence as long as society has existed and, in general, has been a productive activity. Civilization with its many diverse cultures is in constant need of focusing and re-focusing. What makes the present situation a truly unique one is the speed in which change is introduced into our society. The aforementioned have combined with so many global problems of war, economic instability, starvation, and intrigue that one is led to conjecture whether the society can stand the radical impact. With all of its shortcomings there is an extremely valuable heritage to be preserved, and youth, in asking for decisionmaking powers, must assume the responsibility for building on what we already have. You cannot allow “the other generation” to assume this obligation. Thus, it is imperative that you enact a sound decision-making process. Gerald Macaluso Principal The material trappings of success are often displayed as “fashion.” The successful person is portrayed wearing the latest designs in clothing, driving a sleek, stylish car, being seen with the right people in the right places. What these fashionable displays mask, however, are the key elements necessary for any success: personal integrity; a willingness to work hard; respect for others; a genuine curiosity about the unknown; a stable, moral value structure. These are the qualities that we here at Mynderse have tried to provide for each of you. To the extent that we have succeeded, you will succeed in ways that cannot be measured in fashionable terms. Anthony J. Ferrara Assistant Principal 7

Willower p Same K Irland As you look through this year’s Myndersian you will experience many mixed emotions. There will be joy in remembering, but sadness in the realization that you will soon leave Mynderse Academy to continue on to new horizons. A yearbook is a collection of memories reflecting each individual’s activities during his or her high school years. Your adult years will also be a collection of memories as you pass through the years. How you are represented in this yearbook is a reflection of how much you put into your school life, as your future effort will be reflected throughout the rest of your life. If you wish to be remembered in the eyes of others, or in the pages of life, you will have to put forth a commitment to excellence in all that you do. The important milestones in your life have not, nor will they ever, come easily. There is no free ticket for the ride through life’s experiences.

JUNIOR HIGH PRINCIPALS Thirteen years ago, when you first entered school, you unknowingly began to create a shape, a style or a model that would become your future. As you progressed up through the grades, adaptations had to be made to reflect the changes in your attitudes, desires, and your ambitions. For many of you, there have been many adaptations. For others, there have been fewer. However, all of you have now reached the threshold of graduation from Mynderse Academy. The route each of you now takes leading off into the years ahead will have been predetermined by your own individual creativity in fashioning your future. May all of you become all you are capable of becoming. Best of luck to each of you. Domenick Paradise Vice Principal To the Class of 1988: As you, the Class of ’88, leave your high school years, the class of 2000 has just completed their kindergarten year. What kind of world will they find on their graduation day in June of the first year of the new century? You have the responsibility of preparing the country for the next century. Mynderse Academy and the Seneca Falls School District have tried to prepare you for the task. Whether you choose the work force, the military, or college, your role will be significant. All of it’s citizens need to contribute to making America the best place to be in the 21st century. Good Luck in your future endeavors. Vincent Caraccilo Vice Principal 8
