Members of the Class of 1982 ‘That man is a success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who leaves the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem or a rescued soul; who never lacked appreciation of earth’s beauty or failed to express it; who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.” Author Unknown The above poem describes attributes which are not necessarily learned from a textbook. In the years you have spent at Mynderse Academy, I hope you have gained more than knowledge of material. Attending school should have been a life experience; experiences that will make you a positive contributor to society. As you leave Mynderse on Commencement Day, I hope you will accept the challenge of your new life, that you are able to say to yourself that you were a “success,” that you will strive to give the best you have to your fellow man. David M. Geitner Assistant Principal Message to Class of 1982 Congratulations to the Class of 1982. You have completed your high school education. Important as this achievement is, we hope you won’t feel it represents the ultimate in education. Rather, it should represent a stepping-stone to greater things. You should remember that life itself can be a “learning process,” once one is equipped with the tools of learning. Whether you go on to higher educational fields, or into a trade or training school, or to a job, keep this objective in mind — that you should continue to learn, to grow, to enlarge your capacity for service by your all-around development and achievement. Vincent Caraccilo Assistant Secondary Principal Grades 7-9 7

The Board of Education Bottom Row: Gloria Paris. Marilyn Bero, Herbert R. Holden. D.V.M., Peter Same. Row 1: Matthew C. Gallina. Marie Midey. Rick Kuempel. John Pannucci. Missing: Anthony Petroccia. Members of the Class of 1982 I hope you have found your schooling at Mynderse Academy has been more than formal learning. I feel even more secure if you understand, as a result of your education, the significance of what follows. There has been much dialogue concerning the future and what it holds for the American family. One needs only examine the statistics to see that there is a soaring in the divorce rate, an increase in violence within the family unit. I contend that should the institution of family and church lose their significance, we will see the cohesiveness of our society become unglued. I ask each graduate to reflect upon all your family unit has provided for you over the last thirteen years and make a determination that the family is a crucial part of your life. As you leave this more secure phase of your life, I would urgently request you to the concept of family in your future plans. The Board of Education, the Mynderse faculty and I wish you every success as you take your first step toward independence. We hope your steps lead you toward fulfillment of your dreams and the dreams of those around you. Mr. Douglas Zoller Superintendent of Schools Whatever years are alloted to each of us, no one ever knows ahead of time; that is one of the “sweet mysteries” of life. One thing is certain, however. When a moment passes by it is gone forever, and nothing can recall it. So it is with the years in High School, which for our seniors, are only memories now. For some, these remembrances are tender and warm; for others they are bland, neutral, perhaps even colorless. In Shakespeare’s words, however, “What’s done cannot be undone.” Nevertheless, there is a large-looming future awaiting all of you which ought to be seized aggressively, so that your lives will be filled with time well-spent and years well-lived. Take the future and let it be yours; make the world and your place in it what they ought to be. G. Macaluso Principal
