Members of the Board of Education made a study of subject matter this year as a special project. Here, viewing a display on social studies, are Mr. Leroy Garnsey, Mr. Duane Snyder, Mrs. John Webb, Mr. Willis Toner, Presidentg Mr. Lawrence Parker, Mr. Lyle Evans, Mr. Andrew Battyg Seated: Dr. Angelo Romeo. Not pictured is Mr. Donald Kuney. BO RD STUDIES CURRICULUM An increased knowledge of the curriculum was one of the tasks undertaken this year by the Board of Education for the Seneca Falls Central School District, No. 1. In order to become better acquainted with tradi- tional subjects as they are being taught currently, the Board of Education included in its monthly agenda a study of various subjects with concern for both content and methodology from the elementary through the secondary levels. Monthly displays were arranged by teachers in the areas of art, English, languages, mathematics, sciences, social studies, and vocations. Another new program provided by the Board of Education was an Industrial Day. Teachers de- voted an afternoon of recessed time in November to visiting selected local industries. They were es- pecially interested in learning about the methods of production, educational requirements for hiring personnel, relationship of that industryis income to the economy of Seneca Falls, and the industryls philosophy. The Board of Education is made up of citizens who volunteer their time to serve in an elected capacity. Although their private lives differ, they combine their ideas and values that something from the vast storehouses of knowledge can be brought to Seneca Falls. As a result, the community takes considerable pride in the various students who win academic awards each year, and who join the adult citizenry to support the community.

M nderse Academy . . . TREASURE CHEST OF CPPORTLI ITY It remains for each to make the proper choice. The years of high school present many oppor- tunities for study, for exploration and research, for growth and development, and for enjoyment. The various courses that are competently taught and are interesting and challenging in the areas of languages, arts, science, business and vocational fields, in addition to the many required subjects, provide for a wide range of individual choice. Each student, if he wishes, can develop a program suited to his needs. The associations with teachers and classmates and the chance to form close and lasting friendships offer an opportunity that is never repeated in quite the same way. Most Seniors have been with their classmates for many years, some for all of their school life. Here a person knows his friends and is known by them in a close and special way. The years following high school make new demands and present new, but different, opportunities. High school provides, also, the opportunity to live in and be a part of a vital, growing section of an almost complete society of young people. Here are found a representative government, class of- ficers, and student council, the right to campaign for office and to Vote for candidates, a chance to participate in sports and other activities, the oppor- tunity to sing, read, listen, write a term paper, build a motor, paint, relax, study, and graduate. These years can be for every student a full and exciting experience. It remains for each to make the proper choice. Congratulations, Peter King Superintendent
