Members of the Board of Education made a study of subject matter this year as a special project. Not pictured is Mr. Donald Kuney. BO RD STUDIES CURRICULUM An increased knowledge of the curriculum was one of the tasks undertaken this year by the Board of Education for the Seneca Falls Central School District, No. 1. In order to become better acquainted with tradi- tional subjects as they are being taught currently, the Board of Education included in its monthly agenda a study of various subjects with concern for both content and methodology from the elementary through the secondary levels. Monthly displays were arranged by teachers in the areas of art, English, languages, mathematics, sciences, social studies, and vocations. Another new program provided by the Board of Education was an Industrial Day. Teachers de- voted an afternoon of recessed time in November to visiting selected local industries. They were es- pecially interested in learning about the methods of production, educational requirements for hiring personnel, relationship of that industryis income to the economy of Seneca Falls, and the industryls philosophy. The Board of Education is made up of citizens who volunteer their time to serve in an elected capacity. Although their private lives differ, they combine their ideas and values that something from the vast storehouses of knowledge can be brought to Seneca Falls. As a result, the community takes considerable pride in the various students who win academic awards each year, and who join the adult citizenry to support the community.
