HOIVIECOIVIING 1986 omecoming 1986 got off to a spirited start with a pregame pep rally. With festivities un- derway, the football game prepared everyone for more exciting events to follow. With halftime came the most awaited event of the evening. The crowning of the new Homecoming Queen, Natalie Pool, brought cheers from the stands. She was crowned by Liz Reed, the 1985 Queen. The Senior Court included Wendy Carr, Kathryn Ferraro, Don- na Hinton, and Page Porter. Kristen Walker was the Junior Class atten- dant and Melanie Monteith repre- sented the Sophomore class. Although the Mustangs were de- feated by the East Mecklenburg Eagles, the football team put up a hard fight before losing 13-20. A dance, sponsored by the student government, finished off the big evening. The Myers Park soccer and cross-country teams celebrated their first Homecoming on October 22, 1986. This was an addition to the annual football homecoming with Senior players sponsoring at- tendants. There was no Queen chosen, but all the girls were win- ners. The Keyette Carnation Sale starts off the annual Homecoming festivities. Ernest Young and Chris Hicks show their spirit during the pep-rally. 22 Natalie Pool takes a break from cheering to accept the crown of Homecoming Queen
