'What Clubs especially active on the Myers Park campus this year are the junior and Senior Hi-Y's. As in the past, the spirit of the school has been stimulated by their leader- ship. On the Myers Park campus, the junior Hi-Y has set an example of school spirit. Early to rise on the morning of the October barbecue, this energetic group spent the day serving plate dinners to customers. How- ever, the most memorable project of this club was perhaps the revival of battering the old jalopy. Eve-ryone's tension during exam week was thus relieved by Hacking the Hudson. With every bit of traditional enthusiasm, the Senior Hi-Y has led Myers Park during 1962-63. Many times on the afternoon pre- ceding a big game day, this active group arrayed the Math Building with green and white. During Christmas the boys also found plenty of time to help a needy family see the old year through in comfort. Show- ing the academy award-winning film From Here to Eternity was this club's major event. Sr. Hi-Y. Sitting: Treas. McCarity, Pres. Harris Sfllflfllillgf V. Pres. St. George. Sec. DuBose. E -1- 27

Collecting for the March of Dimes, all three Y-teen clubs did an ex- cellent job of serving their fellow man. The club presidents put forth much Work in organizing and collecting for this drive. In October, the Senior Y -teen Club had an interesting speaker who spoke about a career in nursing. With the help of Mrs. Smith as advisor, the senior girls obtained the name of a needy family from the Wel- fare department and gathered clothing and food in order to bring Christmas to this less fortunate family. junior Y-teeners, aided by Mrs. Elliot, also brought Christmas cheer to a needy family. Powell Huitt, a student at East Mecklen- burg, talked to the club about his trip abroad as an exchange student on the city- to-city exchange program. In their first year at Myers Park the Sopho- more Y-teens, with Mrs. White as their advisor, made posters to publicize the bar- becue at the school.
