Y-Teens support needy family Myers Park's Y-Teen and Hi-Y clubs, sponsored by the YWCA and YMCA, contributed to the welfare of the school and the community by working together in fellowship. Senior Y-Teens were assured of an enthusiastic mem- bership through the use of a newly adopted point sys- tem. To add color and spirit they decorated the halls and goal posts during football season. The club dis- tributed Halloween favors to hospital children and sponsored a needy family during Christmas. The ener- getic junior Y-Teens also decorated for games and sponsored a needy family. They participated in the city- wide potato chip drive to raise money for a new YWCA. Bravely withstanding the cold, the club sold the traditional chrysanthemums at Homecoming. Preliminary plans for the Senior Hi-Y began during the summer at the Blue Ridge Hi-Y camp. The club sent two busloads of students to the Asheville football game and sponsored a fall hop, To display Mustang hospitality the boys constructed large plywood plaques with the names of all the schools in the Western Con- ference and hung them in the gym. The juniors also gained knowledge at the Hi-Y camp. They boosted spirit by decorating the halls and raised money for the Inter-Club Scholarship by holding their annual car wash.
