Functioning as an active branch of the American Red Cross, the Myers Park High School Red Cross chapter began the year with a successful membership drive. Donations to support the year's activities were collected by representatives working in their homerooms. Most projects were on a national level or in coopera- tion with other Mecklenburg county schools. As a result of the first of these projects, Myers Park's exchange students were able to make recordings to send to their families at Christmas. Another of these joint projects was preparing Red Cross gift boxesg cartons were filled with small toys and personal grooming items, then sent to orphanages and nurseries in the United States and overseas.
