Leadership denotes participation in Worthwhile activities Leadership is exemplified at Myers Park not only in areas as varied as officers ot clubs, student council, or team captains, but also in other capacities. To motivate individuals, whether it be an athletic team, student council representatives, or members of the Engi- neers Club requires capable persons who can unite a group into a well-functioning body. An otticer must be willing to devote his time and subordinate other in- terests for the betterment of his organization but pri- marily for the advancement of the school. A leader dis- plays an example worthy of emulation by others. But leadership is, in essence, the ability to merge the efforts of a group to fully realize a purposeful objective. A true leader does not try to perform all the tasks but instills in his followers a desire to serve willingly and effectively. 'PAGE 9'
