Band marches in parade celebrating Veteran's Day ff.. Band members: First row: Bell, Andrews, Coffey, Shaekelford, Garrison, B. Holder, Davies, Gantt, Kuester. Fourth row: McEwen, Striekhouser, Siskron, Orr, Spurlin, Bolen, MacAleer, Melvin, Hopkins, Berry, New- Divided into two sections this year, the marching band and the concert band directed by Mr. Mims were on hand to add music to many school activities. Executing intricate formations and presenting colorful half-time entertainment, the entire band performed at each Myers Park football game. Half-time shows this year included themes such as A Salute to Hawaii and The Roaring Twentiesf' Assisting with these performances were the Lettergirls led by Caroline Pilcher, the Majorettes headed by Tinka Lee, and Flagbearers Mariana Kuester and Marya Bell. Drum Majors, Bob Holder and Bill Shackelford, led the marching band through their paces on the field. Millie Mustangs, Frances Sullivan and Fay Walters, appeared at every game dressed in bright green kilts and created extra pep and enthusiasm among the spectators. Three members of the concert band, Bill Bolen, Mac Smith, and Ken Avent, participated in the All-State Orchestra. In February the concert band performed for the public at Myers 'Park Elementary School. High-stepping drum majors, Bob Holder and Bill Shackelford, lead band in intricate half-time formations. Maiorettes strut and twirl to lively music ot band Millie Mustangs are a vital part of the school pep groups. Fay Walters and Frances Sullivan, the 1960-1961 Millies appear at sports functions to add their own special touch of enthu- siasm to the cheering section. Performing not only on the field but also in the stands, the band adds to the spirit of spectators.
