The Broncos sported a 9-2 mark losing to Ardmore in the first round of the state 3-A playoffs. They finished as runners-up in the Suburban Conf. and won the 3A-4 District Championship. ElReno: The season opener saw MHS scalp the Indians 27-13. Jeff Scott scored the first TD of the season. Guy Walcher scored twice and Todd Edwards scored the final TD to defeat ElReno 27- 13. 1 Guthrie: Todd Edwards put MHS on the scoreboard first and in the second quarter the Blue Jays scored to tie the game at half time . With 1:31 left on the clock the Broncos scored and held Guthrie for a 13-7 win. Western Heights: With TD's by Scott and Ellison and an exchange of fumbles Mustang led 14-8 at half-time . Mullican and Emery scored next for W.H. and took a 22-14 lead. With 2 minutes left, Scott scored for Mustang to boost the score to 28-22. W.H. drove to the 5 yd. line and fumbled and the Broncos went home with the win. Chickasha: From the sound of the first gun the ball game was all Mustang. Chickasha was no match for the Broncos who entered the game at 3-O and ended with a 30-0 tally. Yukon: The first quarter of the homecoming game was scoreless. Walcher, and Cluck scored next for MHS and Cory scored for the Milles. Yukon tied the game early in the second half and in the 4th qtr. Cory put the Millers ahead 21- 14. Edwards scored on a pass from Scott to tie the game and it ended 21-21. In overtime MHS scored first and the Millers met the challenge. In the second overtime Mus- tang scored first and Yukon scored and went for 2 points and were held by the mighty Bronco defense and MHS won 34-33. Carl Albert: They handed MHS their only defeat of the regular sea- son. The offense was too explosive for MHS and the final score was 34- 14 . Choctaw: A game remembered for its fumbles and interceptions. Scoring for MHS was Walcher, Floyd, Cluck, and Price . Star Spencer: Another game that was all Red Power. The defense held the Bobcats to only 97 yards offensively. Greg Walcher scored the only TD of the lst half. Floyd kicked a 38 yd. field goal in the 3rd quarter to make the score 10-0. Then Tom Cluck scored and the final score came on a pass from J. Scott to Todd Edwards. 23-0. Putnam City North: The Panthers were no match for the strength of the Broncos. Ron Harrison, Greg jacob and jeff Scott all scored in the first half for a 28-0 score . Then Tom Garrett passed to Dennis McA- lister to bring the final points to 35-0. Ada: The final game of the regular season was merely icing on the cake . It was a game of all Bronco offense and defense as the Broncos won 34-7. Ardmore: The crushing blow to end a super season came in the form of the Ardmore Tigers. Mustang just couldn't get on track and lost in an upset 14-0 in the first play-off game . The 1978 team averaged 300 yds offensively and averaged 21 points a game and gave an average of 14 points per game . 100 Varsity Football
