demand that the one-year college be extended to a two-year Junior College. In response to this urgent request, the Board of Education, therefore, early in the spring of 1928 invited Mr. George C. Wells, State High School Inspector, Dean Roy L. Gittinger, University of Oklahoma, and Dr. Paul B. Sears, Science Department of the University, to visit the junior college and to make definite recommendations for the establishment of the two- year course. Upon the recommendation at the above three school men, the State Board of Education authorized the establishment of the Muskogee Junior College, making it accredited with all other state institutions. Since then it has been regularly inspected and approved by the accrediting com- mittee consisting of J. .Andrew Holly, chairman ot the Committee of Higher Institutions of Learning, Roy L. Gittinger, Dean of Administration, Univer- sity of Oklahoma, N. Conger, Dean of School of Education, Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College. From May l93O to May l94O, certificates of completion of two years work have been granted by the Board ot Education in Muskogee to 273 students.
