gckfork X2-Q ace In preparing and editing this book, l have kept in mind three major aims, which demand a note of explan- ation. First was the change in size. It has been the criti- cism of many that the larger sized publications would not fit conveniently in a library shelf, and consequently was not as useful as possible. In view of this situation the T942 MUSCOLJUAN has been reduced to book size with a hundred additional pages and a third more photog- raphy. Second was use of the theme, Encyclopedia of Mus- kingum Life . It is to be noted that the word encyclo- pedia itself bears the meaning, summary. To summarize the life of the college between these covers is a goal which this publication has endeavored to attain. In a continuation of this encyclopedic theme, all materials have been classified alphabetically by sections, with the six main sections being alphabetized for the convenience of the reader. Third, was making it a reference book. I have tried to visualize the future and develop this book accordingly. This publication is your reference book of a year of hard work, pleasing fellowship, and enioyable experiences. The book has been designed to refresh these memories, and with these explanations I, on behalf of a splendid staff, present this Encyclopedia of Muskingum Life to the students, faculty, and friends of Muskingum College.
