McClanahan McKirahan McConagha Onstott, Slasor do a little research. Wilhelm, Fotheringham, Graham, Boyd 25 on sm Textbooks and Ogden Nash verse, encyclopedias and the latest mystery thriller, pass through the hands of Muskingum's library staff in a day of routine work. Innumerable questions, sensible and otherwise, are addressed to the librarians- and are usually answered. Mrs. Grace McClan- ahan, head librarian, directs student aid work- ers and supervises the maintenance of order both on the shelves and among the students. Mrs. Winifred McKirahan, assistant librarian, shares in this work, and also oversees the collec- tion of library fines. Miss Iva McConagha, cata- loguer, is in charge of preparing and indexing books for the shelves. Student assistants in the library are taught to handle all phases of the work, vocational training being a possible goal, acre lfaria! Gila With the familiar, dreaded order to take a letter just as the 5:00 whistle blows, Muskingum's sec- retarial staff climaxes a typical day. Extra work and extra hours are accepted cheerfully by these faithful souls, who keep things going for the People Who Keep Things Going. Several of the major administrative offices employ full-time sec- retaries, exceptions being Miss Wilhelm and Miss White, who double as English instructors. This efficient group never forgets a name, can always decipher its own pothooks, is forever tactful with absent minded bosses. Administrative fate of the college is often delegated to the secretarial staff, which murmurs in unison, Yes, of course l'll do it. Ancl don't forget your rubbers. Hoopman White Hamilton 1-n - m ,a

McCleery Thompson Napier Fitzwater Balentine mance an Momofion Since no college can exist for long without money or new students, Muskingum's finance and pro- motion departments are among the most active in the college. Miss Wilda Thompson handles all college funds in her capacity as Auditor, from collection of tuition and N. Y. A. checks to change-making for the candy machine. Mrs. Beula Fritzwater acts as secretary to the Finance committee, also takes care of the collection of Centennial pledges. Alumni Secretary H. Dwight Balentine does promotion work and keeps in touch with Muskingum's army of graduates. Director of Public Relations Paul A. Napier works mostly in the field soliciting finances and new students. Publicity Director Edward C. Keefe keeps Muskingum in the public eye through the medium of the newspapers, radio, and college publications. ALMA Following somewhat the concept of socialized medicine, Muskingum's health set-up affords its students medical care for the payment of a fee included in tuition charges. Dr. John M. McCleery closely approximates the popular idea of the family doc , is keenly aware of students' physical needs. Miss Lucille Lawrence is his able assistant, dispensing pink pills and spreading cheer to rooming centers with sniffling inmates. The doctor's office is daily the mecca of those stu- dents with maior and minor ailments, those needing physical exams in order to participate in athletics, and those merely wondering how many pounds that last chocolate sundae added. Muskingum is distinguished from most colleges of its size by the excellence of its health super- vision program. Lawrence . Day, Miss Kirkpatrick in lounge. Martin, Hammond in power plant. Mrs. French, Mrs. Moore in dorm. uyoemfijion ana! Wainlfenance Weighty responsibility of coming into the parlor at iust the tactful moment in a good-night scene, unpleasant duty of saying no to request for pers, broiling countless hamburgers in the Lounge, maintaining sweetness and light in table talk, all are the duties of Muskingum corps of student supervisors. Dormitory Director Mrs. Florence French heads the ranks of house- mothers, makes the freshman women feel at home and at ease in their new surroundings. Miss Corinne Kirkpatrick directs the student-be- sieged Brown chapel lounge, often is out of breath from rush orders. With the other super- visors of rooming centers, these women keep the college going on the distciff side. Headed by Chief Engineer G. C. McConagha and Custodian Ernest Wylie, a group of hard-work- ing, able men keep things moving behind the scenes on Muskingum's campus. Spending long hours in the power plant or doing the myriad odd iobs which keep Muskingum's building and grounds looking spruce and running smoothly are several assistants in the maintenance divis- ion: Harold Hammond, Maurice Crumbaker, R. E. Baker, Guy Slater, William J. Garner, James Hurley, S. T. Rutherford, John Smith, E. L. Stockum, and Alva Martin. Supervision of stu- dent aid workers detailed to general campus work is no small part of the duties of these men. French KlrkPClfrfck Wylie Mcconvgho
