The Music Department is composed of two divi- sions: choral and instru- mental music. ln both, the objectives are ta de- velop sensitive musicians and singers and to de- velop appreciation for, and an understanding af good music. The goals ofthe library are: to provide a back- ground of information which will enable pupils ta make intelligent judg- ments in their daily life and to provide materials an opposing sides of con- troversial issues so that young citizens may de- velop under guidance the practice of critical read- ing and thinking. Fred Rays B.M., M.M. Mr. Rays chase to teach in the field of music because of his admiration for the late Wil- liam Stewart, M.H.S.'s beloved band and orchestra director. Although Mr. Rays feels that most students have an abun- dance af spirit, he admits that there are a few who have none. Mabeth Saure . A.B., M.M. Miss Saure is the able leader of all our choir groups. She is a graduate of Northwestern University. Margaret Elliott A.B., M.S. Besides being our busy li- brarian, Mrs. Elliott is the Li- brary Club advisor and is in charge of TAB readers. Mrs. Elliott has a number of hobbies, among which are an interest in Indian falklare and writing juvenile stories. Marylee Steinmetz A.B. - Mrs. Marylee Steinmetz is the assistant librarian at M.H. The aims of the Voca- tional Department are the most important in today's society. Students are trained to enter some phase of the modern busi- ness world, whether me- chanical or commercial. The mechanical subjects help to develop manual skills and provide train- ing for those pursuing special trades. The com- mercial courses provide training for those pursu- ing special trades. The commercial courses pro- vide the training neces- sary for participation in office work and manage- ment. Henry V. Bolt A.B. Another familiar figure in the new industrial artsaddition is Mr. Bolt. He is a drafting in- structor. Mildred Brothers A.B. A graduate of Western Mich- 'igan University, Mrs. Brothers teaches bookkeeping, short- hand, and commercial arith- metic. ln her spare time she enjoys sports and sewing. Fred Chalker B S Mr. Chalker is an auto shop instructor at MHS. His hobbies include hunting and fishing. Pauline Dunsmore B.A., M.A. Mrs. Dunsmore teaches busi- ness education classes at Mus- kegon. Her outside activities in- clude ceramics, knitting, and reading. She is also president of the Michigan Business Educa- tion Association this year. Fred Franczek Jr. B.A., M.A. As a typing and commercial law teacher at M.H.S., Mr. Franczek feels his job is vital in today's complex business world. He is a graduate of Mus- kegon Community College and Michigan State University.
