School spirit - - - implies many things. It in- cludes loyalty to the ideas ond traditions of the school, deter- mination to maintain the high standards set for us by those who have preceeded us here, and a striving for constant im- provement and reaching to- ward perfection. School spirit is reflected in little ways, in the friendliness and cooperation of students, the respect they show each other and their teachers, the pride they take in a clean and beautiful campus. Muskegon has always been known for its high standards and fine school spirit. May she long continue to uphold her fine reputation! MRS. KYES, Ast. l Joan J. Dodd M.A. One of M.H.S.'s new coun- selors is Miss Joan Dodd who comes to us by way of Wies- baden, Germany and Suffolk, England, where she taught and counseled in U.S. Air Force De- pendent Schools. Horriett M. Reid B.S. When the going gets tough, it seems to me our school spirit is at its peak. Loyalty is the basis for real school spirit--not just a Big Show. l Vernon A. Jensen A.B., M.A. A graduate of M.H.S., Mr. Jensen is now a teacher and counselor in the Muskegon School System. School spirit is desirable but don't forget that there are many other fine schools and students around us. Mr. Jensen likes the fact that M.H.S. is willing to, try new ideas and to keep pace with the times in becoming more and more a comprehen- sive high school to benefit all students. g l Kenneth C. Kloberg B.S. The father of five, Mr. Kol- bergs hobbies are reading and cabinet making. He is a mem- ber of the counseling depart- ment and is a graduate of Western Michigan University. qi, 5 ti, . i, , i' f i lflliTlfF'fff fi!!
