- We dedicate the l962 SAID AND DONE to Ed Wittkopp, our MHS jun- ior critically injured in the Muskegon- Grand Haven football game last Octo- ber. Since that time Ed has been re- cuperating at Hackley Hospital. For several months he remained uncon- scious and in critical condition. It was not until January that Ed became fully conscious and was able to recognize friends and members of his family. Coach Paul Baldwin, MHS foot- ball coach, has expressed the feelings of the Muskegon High School Stu- dents. Number 42 has become synony- mous with all that high school football epitomizes-- strength of heart, wind and SPIRIT and ability to excell and bear the color of our school with dig- nity and humility. Ed achieved all this and more. After his injury, Ed's presence was felt on the practice field, in the locker room, and during the games. We knew Ed was with us all the way and wanted us to continue working toward our common goal -- --to do our best. Now, as he faces the long months of rehabilitation we see Ed with the same determination as he showed on the Hackley Field when he lugged the pigskin through rugged opponents and tackled with reckless abandon. Who knows what the future will hold or what other obstacles lie in Ed's path? We know of things called cour- age, perseverence, SPIRIT, and just plain guts , and Ed has them. We wish Ed good luck and we hope that he soon returns to the hallowed halls of Muskegon High School.
