Declicotion Faculty and students find it diiiicult to realize that retirement is ending Harvey Paulson's teaching career- It has long been evident that for all his life he has had the time of his life . His enthusiasm and energy make him seem perpetually young. No subject is foreign to his interest and curiosity- history, business, athletics, civilzation in general. Any topic gives Harvey a chance to relate another incident that has taken place in his own busy history. Whether teaching in a rural one-room school, a high school or college classroom, he always had the situation we1l-in- hand. Who will handle our funds and help us to keep our books straight, if not Mr. Paulson? We believe that he will be around,' for a long time to give us background and counsel. Constant contacts with his innumerable pupils all over the community will insure him a future as entertaining as his past - a future with never a dull moment.

Our Yeor Time is that relative factor which imparts a meaning and purpose on all that occurs in the universe. All life is in a logical and purposeful progression which has time as a scale. This great scale has neither beginning nor ending, nor does it ever waver. Time always progresses evenly, and it is only our impression and conception of its presence that ever varies. We may recall and predict time, but we are powerless to control it. It must follow then that the importance of time is inestimable, and we can only attempt to understand the manner in which it affects us. What is the use of a drink of water, a breath of air, or a word of pardon if it comes too late? Consider the consequences when a moon rocket is launched too soon, or when someone acts in anger before thinking about the situation. Delay in making a decision can bankrupt a corporation, lose a life, or start a war. How much credit may a student receive for a theme submitted a week late. Finally, note the status of an individual who is prone to verbal outbursts before the dismissal of class. The foregoing examples are obviously characteristic effects of time, but, in ad- dition, we should explore some other aspects of time. It is not unreasonable that something as mighty as time should have something to offer for all of us. Certainly time holds special wonders for each and every person. We may utilize our years in high school as a notable example. These years may offer a great lesson, a very special person, a senior prom, or the opportunity for preparation for later years. Actually the high school years may present a combination of these benefits and more. When we compare our minute glimmer of life to the vast panorama of time, we seem to be a negligible factor in the whole operation of existence. Yet insignificant as we may seem to be, we may still en- hance the very expression of time. Every one of our thoughts and actions is an integral event in the story narrated by time. Since this story is a cumulative one, everything that happens is dependent on previous events. So everything we do in high school serves as a basis for the remainder of our lives. Time lays before us now the opportunity to mold our lives. Let us not fail to recognize the tremendous importance of this opportunity, but make use of its possibilities to the fullest extent. Time has given us another great year of priceless experience. Muskegon Senior High School has won recognition in nearly every field ot endeavor available to a high school. We have done our best to augment this latest year of time's story in the most marvelous manner to date. Indeed, we have had the time of our lives.
