MR. WILLIAM C. DENTON B.A., M.A. Mr. Denton enjoys hunting, fishing, and photography. He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia. His be- lief is that smaller classes would be an asset to Muskegon High School. Mr. Denton's job is that of solving the many problems of our M.H.S. students. M RS. THORA LU N DELL B.A., M.A. Do you like music, and collecting recipes and cookbooks? These are the interests of Mrs. Lundell who is a counsellor at M.H.S. She was born in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She hopes that some day all people will learn to assume their assigned responsibilities. MISS HARRIET REID Miss Reid is counsellor at M.H.S. Besides assisting students with their problems, she gives freely of her time and energies to anyone who needs help. She feels that M.H.S. could become a better place if everyone cooperated IOOM-,. What college should I attend to get the best education in my chosen field? What jobs are available after graduation? What is high school pre- paring me for? Are you confused by any of these questions? The counselors will help you find the answers and give other pertinent advice on your school program. Not only will you get this type of information, but you will also receive help on many personal problems which indirectly affect your school career. MR. KENNETH C. KOLBERG, B.S. Tcickling the Big Problems ond Coming Out on Top Problems, problems, and more problems! And for every one, no matter how big it is, a solution IIlL1St be found. Finding those solutions is the job of the administration at M.H.S. They must make the rules and regulations, a task which takes much consider- MR. RAY CARLSON, B.A., M.A. Now acting as administrative assistant in charge of juniors, Mr. Carlson also teaches world history. Mr. Carlson has traveled all over the South Pacific, at the expense of Uncle Sam, while serving in the Armed Forces. MR. LLOYD C. HARTMAN, B.S., M.A. Mar. Hartman, who comes from Battle Creek, Michigan, is head football coach at M.H.S. and an assistant to the principal. Mr. Hag.man's interests include the following: fishing, hunting and rea ing. MISS EMILY HERKIMER, B.S., M.A. The homemaking supervisor at our school is Miss Herkimer. She is a member of the A.A.U.W. Mr. Kolberg hails from nearby Grand Haven, Michigan. He is the director of the manual at M.H.S. MRS. ALICE KYES, A.B., A.M. Mrs. Kyes, our assistant principal, enjoys art and reading. She is a member of the Board of the Muskegon County Museum. Mrs. Kyes believes each student should make high standards for himself and live up to them. She is also in charge of the foreign exchange students. MR. JOHN W. TOPPEN, B.S. Photography, gardening, and travel are among the hobbies of Mr. Toppen. He feels that to eliminate from study any room that does not have desks would be an excellent improvement for M.H.S. Mr. Toppen also expresses his pet peeve as litter . ation and discussion, and once the rules are made, the administrators must also see that they are carried out. Or have you ever been in study hall 120 just before lunch time and noticed the tantalizing aroma from the kitchen? It is our staff of cooks and janitors who are responsible for these things and many others besides. Our custodians keep our school ship-shape by mopping up after We track snow in, or by cleaning our class- rooms. Thanks to them, we have a school and campus in which we can take pride.
