Responsible for a lot of our good spirit at M.H.S. are our Big Red cheerleaders and lndians. From left to right are Barb Cross, Wendy Houghton, captain Peggy Wainwright, Sue Zachariason and Elaine Humenick with our dancers Sanford Miller and Bob Iensen. Our peppy cheerleaders have kept up Muskie spirit even when we were on the low end of a score. Always working, never slacking is our painstaking band leader Mr. Stewart. His insistence on perfection has made the march- ing band and orchestra at Muskegon top ranking in the state and nation. Here he is directing the band at the last perform- ance of the school year - graduation. High stepping drum major at M.H.S. this year is Ted Bensinger. This strutting figure in white leads our marching band through their various formations and maneuvers during the half time shows of the football season at Muskegon. 1 A'f? wfL.hfW5f4 Yfilelkw, ?l'3nWHfkdw--0' 'ct' W '

Here they come! This was the cry that went up as our Homecoming King and Queen walked down the runway to greet their loyal subjects. Soon after this picture was taken our rulers Peggy Wainwright and Roger Locke led off our first dance at the Homecoming dance. Suspense, fear and hope is seen in the expressions of these Muskegonites as they watch one of our Big Reds running down the field trying to gain a touchdown at our annual Muskegon Benton Harbor Homecoming game -Qt swf? .1 X , i f 2 S 'i
