Seniors The golden age is before us, not behind us. - St. Simon As we seniors of 1962 look back on the past with fond memories, and to the future with perhaps some hesitance, we think of the years we spent at Heights High and how those years will help take hold of things to come. The future undoubtedly holds out many opportunities to many people, as may be evidenced in the interesting write-ups in the Senior section of this volume of The Oaks . Some of our friends may change their ambitions and their goals as the years progress. However, the spirit they inherit from Heights High, and the characters they have formed, probably will be a thing of permanence in their lives. The past three years have been reward- ing ones. Some of it has been grinding, but also satisfying. Other moments have been filled with laughter and excitement. So, with our heads held high, proud to be graduates of Muskegon Heights High School, we go forth into the fields of en- deavor that we have chosen. Someday, we may get together once again to renew our friendships and our interest in the Class of '62.

SENIOR CLASS ADVISERS Mr. Westmon, Miss Cobb, Mr. Ochs, Classes Choose Their Officers By Colleen Wltttmlcer The Senior Class, headed by presi- dent, Gloria Wilkinson, has been busy already this year. Recently, seniors voted upon selec- tions for class motto, flower, and colors. Pam Heethuis and her com- mittee decided upon several flowers, colors and mottoes, which were sub- mitted to the seniors for the ballot vote. The following were chosen: flower, red roseg colors, rose and silver white, and motto, The future lies before you like a shining path of snow, be careful how you tread, for every step will show. Another matter that the seniors decided upon was to whom the Oaks would be dedicated. From a list of four teachers, Mr. Westman, one of our well-liked senior class advisors, was chosen. The other class officers are: vice- president, Judy Boylang secretary, Jean Plichtag and treasurer, Jack Garvin.
