McKenzie Coach lt has been Mr. McKenzie's annual task here since 1927 to mold a team out of new recruits. He has done an outstanding job each year. Our Little Tigers completed a short but extremely successful 1943 season. For the seventeenth time, Coach D. R. McKenzie de- veloped a strong defensive team, well drilled in fundamentals. The Tigers Were victorious in four out of five games, losing only to a team which they had previ- ously loeat, Muskegon. ln the first three games, the Tigers came through easily. Okie lohnson developed an outstanding team during the '43-'44 cage season, a power which tied the tall Kala- mazoo Maroons for the Southwestern Conference title, Were victors in the Regionals, and battled its way to the semi-finals in State Class A competition. The first squad was especially strong as a defensive team with a record ot 14 victories in l5 contests. The varsity five was backed by ten extremely capable substi- tutes, all ot whom received M-H awards.
