Then came that day all freshmen fear—Initiation ! What a day to remem- ber J The next event In our freshman year was making a float, planning a skit, and building a bonfire for Homecoining. We were sorry that we didn't win any prizes. We had Joan Sobek and Bob Cook representing the freshmen for the Homecoming Dance. Our classmate, Caryl Manning, was chosen to go to Music Clinic. Look ] Who are these slightly proud kids entering the school? Yep, soohomores. This year we didn't make too big a dent In history. The most fun was Initiating the freshmen. This year we again entered a float and skit for Homecoming and were disappointed as we still didn't win a prize. Carol Nahley won an A at state with a vocal solo and piano solo. Agnes Makovec and Wllmer Belscamper represented the soph- omores at the Junior Prom. Juniors at last—and the year for making history. We accomplished many things of which to be proud. This year for Homecoming we were proud to say that we won second on both our float and our skit. The aueen also came from our class. In Dramatics, we produced two actors, Jack Greene and Branson 'Red' Lawrence. Their play Heat Lightnlng“re- celved A at state. This play was also presented at Memorial Union Theater and to the Boards of Education at the Grant County Convention. Forensic time rolled around and Agnes Makovec and Jack Greene received A at state. For music, Carol Nahley and Mary McVay received an A for a vocal ensemble. Along came April 21, 1952, and Who Wouldn't Be Crazy was produced. This of course, was that silly and Joyful Junior Class riay. Our biggest event was the prom, with Red Sails In the Sunset as our theme. Shirley Slkhart and Larry Meyer reigned as queen and king for that never to be forgotten date. Joan Sobek, Bill Kratochwlll and Gary Adametz served on the court from the Junior Class. At the '52 award night, Agnes Makovec and John Sobek were selected to attend Girl's State and Boy's State respectively. Jack Greene was chosen to attend Music Clinic.Walter Fleming was named all-conference basketball player and Branson 'Red' Lawrence was named on the all-conference foot ball team. We feel that our Junior year was very successful Indeed. At last the big senior year arrived. Our first class project was the Homecoming float, which won first prize. Our skit also took first place. Eileen Welst was chosen queen from the senior class and she chose Harold Thlede, also a member of the senior class, as king. In Dramatics, the play, Midsummer's Night Dream , which consisted of a cast of all seniors, went to Whitewater and received B.Walter Fleming, Harold Thlede, and Branson Lawrence were named on the all-conference football team. To cheer our boys on, we had our senior cheerleader, Betty Vlcany. We also produced a Senior Class Play. The fitting climax to all the year's activities was the production of this annual which you now hold In your hand. On Thursday May 21, 1953 were presented with our awards. Sunday evening May 24, Baccalaureate Services were held. Then on May 26, we seniors proudly received our diplomas. So, as our high school careers come to a close, we look back with pride at our many splendid accomplishments and predict a successful future for all Our Senior Gang i io Ted Atkinson Darlene Belscamper Ruth Bennett Leron Boggs Arnold Bomkamp Carole Buchwald Dick Effinger Shirley Graham Jim Klncannon Betty Lawrence Bill Miller Sharon Mueller Nancy Rohovetz Joe Rut Lois Schoenbeck Helene Seifert Louise Shaffer Anna Marie Stanek Ruth Studnlcka Barbara Thlede Kenneth Troxel Mary Weadge Betty Welet Joan Williamson Phyllis Zlntz Not Pictured: Norris Jacobson Ed Martin James dame Joanne Bahr Evelyn Bertels Jack Beran Janet Bock Janice Boggs Ellen Efflnger Patricia Elder Arlene Herrlmen Dorothy HavIlk Carl Hicks Dennis Hlpenbecker Margaret Kosharek Patricia Mlnter Donald Morlva Roberta Reetz Norman Rosenau Philip Schwabe Beauford Sherman Ben Studnlcka Paul Studnlcka Edwin Thlede Shirley Thomas Maurice Willis Not Pictured: Richard Hinkle Gerald Perslnger Harvey Riley Donald Stephenson ♦ Class Officers Floyd Bethke Lloyd Bethke Alice Blba Wuanlta Briggs Marjorie Byrne Eugene Cook Sarah Cornwall Judy Davidson Sharon Graham Diane Grassman Georgia Haffenbracl Sharon Harness Robert Hinkle James Honer Luanne Honer Virginia Hying James Klenltz Kenneth Kolar Byron Lawrence LaVonne Martin Virginia Martin Donald Miller Alice Kousseau Ronald Mueller Philip Nicholson Clifford Pursell George Rosslng Carol Rut John Schwlngle William Stanek Alice Storms Shirley Storms Marianne Studnlcka Llsette Thlede Donald Welchbrod Gerald Wilkinson James Wilkinson Not Pictured: John Blba Class Officers .
