repares for War The high school Victory Corps is a national voluntary organization dew signed to mobilize school students for more effective preparation for and participation in wartime service. Nl. H. S. has fitted its student war organs izations into the national Victory Corps. This organization is divided into six different groups: Cieneral Membership, l'roduction Service, Commus nity Service, Land Service, :Xir Service, and Sea Service. The high school has not been shirking its duty. Since the first of the present upset, the members of the student body have been contributing their time, ellorts, and money to various patriotic campaigns and organizations. Many are working half days and keeping up their school Work and an out-- side activity, too. Regular classes in homemaking are doing extra Work for the Red Cross. Some girls not even enrolled in homemaking have donated their services by making pajamas. Ciirls and faculty knitting sweaters are not an unfamiliar sight. Many sweaters, with the knitters' names attached, have been sent to men in the armed forces. In the fall the Muskies became enthusiastic over the scrap drive conf ducted in Muscatine. They raided cellars, attics, and garages. Students who found scrap too cumbersome to bring to school left their addresses in the oHice, and M usky workers went in cars to gather the scrap during the day. The city collected the heap of this and that after the drive was completed. Muskies had done their share by giving everything from hair pins to bed springs. All that the Muskies are doing cannot be seen by the onlookers. ln their hearts Muscatine students have the patriotic feeling that it takes to win a War. They feel partly responsible for what is going to happen in the future, and they Want it to be peace.
