The day that we the graduatnng class of 'I959 entered the flrst grade gradua tron day was only a tlny goal somewhere In the dustant future We have now reached that goal leavlng behind us many prrnts on the sands of tlme These prnnts were at furst hardly notlceable but nn 1955 when we were put through the usual tor tures of green freshmen they became a llttle more promlnent These flrst sllght umpresslons were made by the 78 students and sponsors Mr Fred Shultz and Mrs Dew Drop Rowlett Our class offlcers were Presldent Ted Sykes Vlce Presrdent Jerry Henry Secretary and Treasurer Jeanette McNutt Our class actlvltles were few but as our sophomore year began they became more numerous In 1956 we ganned Marvlee Easter Roszanne Farrrs Bonnle Futrell Mary Ellen Wllllams Linda Toon Carla Hlnch and Glenn Hull but because of the loss of Don Alexander Larry Austnn John Arnold Pat Barnes G C Caln James Carson Phul Collie Mary Ruth Emertne Gary Herndon Jerry Hvland Nathan Jewell Wayne Lee Hugh Massey Jerry Overbey Joe Ray Jerry Sensrng Earl Stalls and John Walker our class numbered only 69 Leadlng our steps for the second year were our same sponsors Mrs Rowlett and Mr Shultz and the same class officers Ted Sykes Jerry Henry and Jeanette McNutt We ended our sophomore year wtth a pac nlc at Kentucky Lake State Park Our lmprlnts on the sands of time were made somewhat deeper during our gun lor year There were 62 of us lolly lunlors wlth the gain of Ronnie Christopher Adair Ronald Barlow Hugh Crass Richard Parker Dwalne Spencer Wlllle Ross Stamps Jane Chadwick Eva Dunn Sara Kung Hazel Peal and Mary Ellen Wllllams We chose as our class officers President Ted Sykes Vlce President Buddy Farris Secretary and Treasurer Sandra Hamrlck Our sponsors were Mrs Dew Drop Rowlett and Mr El: Alexander Our mann events throughout the year Included the homecoming foot ball party the class play Bound to Marry and the Junior Senror Banquet The theme for the banquet which was held at the Kenlake Hotel was Moonllght and Roses Our frnal tmprunts at Murray Hugh School have been made under the dtrectuon of our sponsors Mrs Rowlett and Mr Alexander and our class officers Jerry Neale Ron me Christopher and Pat Beale Presldent Vlce President Secretary and Treasurer respectlvely We garned Pattr McNeely and Sherry Mayfield but lost Leonard Ball Leon Arnold Anrta Hutchens Ginny Weatherly and Kay Farrell Our mann protects for thus our twelfth year have been the Halloween Carnlval and the annual All these happy moments shall fade Into memorles on May 28 1959 when we wlll each go our separate ways to make our lndnvldual umprlnts on the sands of the future As we leave we shall utter a silent prayer of thanks and of hope a hope that the graduatnng class of 1959 may always be remembered for tts accompllsh ments rather than nts defeats Hlstorlan MARTHA E JONES I I ' I D 1 ' I n z ' , - , . .
