.JL-Aalorg Wayback in 1947 there entered Murray High School,-the most talented and promising green freshmen ever to cross the thres- hold of MHS. For our class of 51 students had the fighting spirit and Miss Mary Roberts and Miss I..ala Cain, sponsors, and Mary Frances Williams, president, we fought our way victoriously through our first year. We came back in'48 a year older and a year wiser. Our num- ber was increased to 55 even though we lost Maxine Crass and Joan Miles who chose matrimony in place of schooling. Dona Wainscott, who transferred to the Training School. Leslie Dyson who moved back to Paducah, and Bobby Thornton joined the Army. But to cover our loss we gained some truly great students, Paul Blanken- Ship from Bradford, Tenn., Jack Greenfield from Ohio, and Patsy Robertson from Ark. We were guided this year by Mrs. George Hart, and Paul Blankenship, president. In '49 we were at last upper classmen and were on the road to success. We hated to lose Charlene Hatchett and Dallas Conyers moved to Paducah, Janot Smith, moved to Decatur, Jack Greenfield moved back to Ohio, and Noble Knight went to work. But we re- ceived some great kids to climb a little higher with us. They were Glenda Kirkland, from Paris, Tenn.g Will Ed Travis, transferred from the Training School, Jean Emerine, from Benton, James Roberts from Phoenix, Ariz. , and Charles Skaggs and Larry Washer from Hardin. We sponsored a work day to raise money for the traditional Junior-Senior Banquet, which with the help of our sponsor, Mrs. Hart, we carried out in grand southern style at the Woman's Club House. We elected Paul Blankenship president. On September 6, 1950, the 44 seniors whocompose the 1951 class entered Murray High to climb the last rung of high school days. We were saddened by the loss of some of our dearestfriends, Mary Frances Williams, who transferred to Virginia Intermont College, Paul Blankenship who moved to Jackson, Tenn.g James Roberts, who finished school in the summer, Lida Waldrop Darnell, who moved to Detroitg Charlie Marr, who went to work, David Outland, who went to the Navy, Latricia Stokes Travis, who went to Texas to join her husbandg Sue MCC uistonwho moved to Detroit. But those whojoined us for our last victory were welcomedwhole- heartedly. They being Myrtle Ross Dunn who transferred from Mayfield, and Shirley Henry from Jackson, N. C. Sorne of the highlights of the year were successful Halloween Carnival, arrival of our rings, monthly parties, senior play, and our wonderful five day trip to New Orleans and Biloxi. Mrs. George Hart was again elected sponsor. She had beenwith us through tears of joy and sadness. We felt she was the only one right for our last battle. Gene Hendon was chosen president and editor of the annual. Now we are saying farewell to our Alma Mater which has been our home for these glorious past four years, and the faculty who has tried hard to place us on the right road for life. It is our sin- cere wish that MurrayHighwill be as proud of the '51 class as we are of Murray High. NANCY WEAR Historian 29

Hola ec? The MHS cafeteria is lighted ilp bright, People are wondering what's going on tonight, It's the reunion of the class of '51, And the meeting has just begun. fBy the way, do you remember when there was just a cafeteria and that was all? But it wasn't that way long because they voted on the school bond in the fall. And do you remember how it passed? We were all mighty happy because it meant we had a grade school at last. Well, it's been built now for many a year and I guess our children appreciate it now that they're here.D Getting back tothe reunion, Gene Hendon, once president of the senior class, Finally has reassembled this mass, I see everything is about to start, Sol guess that is where I must part. The next voice you hear will be that of .Timmy Jones. He was secretary in'5l and, by the way, we still call him Bones. BONES JONES--I'll call the name ofeveryone, so stand up and tell what you've done. First name is Parker, alright, let's go, What do you have to say, Billy Joe?
