Murrays trackmen duplicating last years record by winning two and losing two were led down the cinder paths by Floyd Bedbury Russ Williams and Stan McFar lin who won their events un every conference meet In the Central Wilson Washington and Hardlng meets Bedbury took flrsts in the mile McFarlin took tlrsts in the half mile and Willnams swept the first places in the low The Prlots opening their season against Central s de tending champs were given quite a Iolt as they ran against the Mlnutemens perennial iron wall and were downed 78 35 Still smarting from their defeat at the hands ot Central a determined squad went out and beat a good Wilson team by a 63 49 score Murrays third dual meet of the season was the most convincing as the Pilots ran against an undermanned Washington team and triumphed by a 75V2 37V2 vlctory The Knlghts ot Harding then stepped up and gave the Pilots a startling setback as they won by a surprising honors In meets carnlval 595 735 score The City Relay Carnival was held a week after the Murray Washington contest and the Pilots entered the hugh stepping two mile race with a relay team consisting ot Floyd Bedbury Howard Mnelke and Bob Cheatham This relay team won and un so doing came withm one second of the city record The team again repeated their Carnival Consistent point getters forthe Pilots were Bob Alexander who ran the lOO and 220 yd dashes and also participated on the relay team Bob Wells who partlcipated in the broad gump and also ran on a relay team Howard Mielke who ran on the two mile relay team and IS a promising mller Coach Thomas Thompsons team lost four top flight sensors as Ru s Williams Floyd Bedbury Bob Wells and Bob Alexander graduated A large junior varsity group promises to give the team the added strength whrch will be needed in 57 a squad roster Front row: Howard Mielke, Stan McFarlin, Floyd Bedbury, Russ Williams, Bob Alexander, Bob Wells, Bob Cheatham ' John Quam, Merle Mcliillips Larry Bies, Jack Steingraber, Jim Ullyot, Bob Lindsay, Bob Christensen, Steve Frauenshuh, Norm Olson 9 Thomas Thompson, coach.
