Department Stresses Basic Grammar Three thousand ninety-two sophomores, juniors, and seniors attend one hundred seven classes in the English Department. This is the only subject required during all three years at Murphy. Whether a student plans to further his education or to begin his career, a thorough knowledge of his own language is essential to his success. Arranged homogeneously in three levels, sophomore and junior classes arc designed so that each student can attain his capacity. Those who desire a strong foundation in Eng- lish are offered elective courses in journalism, speech, and dramatics. A choice of world literature, creative writing, or English is offered to seniors.
