liabif hace” Big Bill was a great back, but because of the team's weakness at center, he sacrificed his ball carrying ability in order to strengthen the team. And strengthen the team he did, for he always opened great holes when the plays were over center. —'28 Mohian Julius M. Sitterlee y. M. When this lumbering 188-pound tackle closed in on a ball carrier, it was Goodnight and hello for the opponent. In fact, during his two years of varsity service, whenever a few yards were needed, the play generally went through a hole opened by him. —'31 Mohian Joseph F. Sharpe

Dedication It seems fitting to dedicate the Panther edition of the Mohian to three men who have done much to develop the great teams and the indomitable spirit of Murphy. Each of these men was an outstanding athlete during his high school days, and each returned to Murphy to teach other youngsters how to play the game. Mr. Sharpe, besides coaching, has taught math and commercial law. For many years he was head football coach, and this year he has stepped up to the position of Athletic Director. Mr. Sitterlee came to Murphy as a coach but proved his versatility by teaching woodworking and core. He now holds the full-time job of Fiscal Agent, handling all cash transactions of the school. Mr. Willcox started his teaching career as a physical education director and is today chairman of that depart- ment. Recently he took on the indispensable job of stage manager and sponsor of the stage crew. With each order barked by one of these men, many a youthful body has strained to its task; with each slow smile, many a youthful heart has been lifted by the knowledge of a job well done. In appreciation of their true Panther spirit, the 1955 Mohian is fondly and grate- fully dedicated to these three Murphy boys who made good. Charles O. Willcox Higun” His 130 pounds of weight never counted nearly so much as his pluck and determination during the grinding moments of the games, and few were the ball carriers who got around his end. Pass catching, tackling and blocking kicks were his favorite tasks. —'31 Mohian
