M r. RAYMOND G. WILSON is remarkably well suited to his position as principal of Murphy High School. Holding a B. S. degree from Memphis State College, an M. Ed. From Duke University, and an M. Ed. from the University of Illinois, he is now working toward his doctorate. Experience in the schools of Tennessee, both as teacher and as administrator, has given him the necessary background for solving school problems. An affable nature and a democratic phi- losophy make him informal, friendly, and—it is needless to add—popular with the 150 teachers and 3500 students whom he calls his partners in Murphy, Inc.'' Barton Academy. under the enthusiastic leadership of Mr. W. C. Stapleton, is the home of 540 Murphy fresh- men. Classroom and other activities closely parallel those at Murphy. The freshmen at Barton have their own band and glee club, a column in MURPHY HI TIMES, and a football team that won the City Championship in the Midget group. Their greatest pride is their library, recently enlarged and redecorated, which can accom- modate from fifteen to twenty per cent of the enrollment. The beige-gray color scheme, fluorescent lights, aluminum blinds, and largo convenient work rooms for the library staff make it—to quote Mr. Stapleton— simply a dream.” Row 1: Ruth W.
