And here we have the dignified Seniors moving rapidly out of their safe high school sphere into unconquered worlds of the future, yet taking with them four years that have bound them closely together in lasting friend- ship, increased their ability to work with peo- ple, and given them sparks of intellectual fire. At their head is Earl McMurphy who has well demonstrated his ability to serve his class- mates by having had the honor of being elected president of his class for the past three years. The other officers of this distinguished group are Jimmie Brown, Vice-pres.; Albert Amos, Sec.; and Sib- at Murphy a class of mid-year seniors ley Greer, Treas. We also have here with Boardman Chambers, Pres.; Bernice Gunter, Vice-pres.; Shirley Partridge, Sec.; and Gilda Daul, Treas.

Jb t ii tl z n t various committees of the school. The committees are: Traffic, Yard, Locker, Auto-parking, Athletic, Girl’s Dressing Room, Roy’s Dressing Room, Honor, Lost and Found, Nominations and Elections, Publicity, and Civic Welfare. Each committee has a chairman chosen from the members of the Governing Council by the president. Every chairman has a faculty advisor who is selected by the principal. It is the responsibility of the chairman to see that his committee has a sufficient number of student monitors and runs smoothly- The Governing Council mets bi-monthly in room 17d. President Rosson calls the meeting to order and Secre- tary Childers calls the roll and reads the minutes of the last Governing Council meeting and also those of the Advisory Council meeting. All committee reports are heard. If there is any particular problem facing a chair- man and his committee, all members of the council give their view points on the matter. It is through the Gov- erning Council that Murphy students are able to govern their school with such fine democratic spirit. Itight: A l vixory Council Meeting. Lower: Meeting of Student Governing Council.
