KANUHSHETA 1080 it's yesterday. Introduction Organizations Faculty Spirit Sports Student Life Honors Classes Published by the Journalism Class in cooperation with the seniors of Murphy High School Murphy. NCi Volume 28. Here Halls I have walked many times Are dark And faraway. Existing Only in my memory. Once alive With joys and sorrows, Friends and faces I once knew. Laughter and fun Of which I was Once a part Have faded. Gold days I once lived Are mists of remembrance. Here I have abided. Here I have found myself. I have become me. Shaped by you, Solid, Yet flexible. Eager. Yet frightened To begin, To leave here. 2 3 u People have known. Have been dose to. Have loved. Are moving. Separating. Changing. Finding themselves As I found me. We have touched. We have passed. We have moved on. We will remember Each other. For we were As one. Learning From each other. We've tasted friendship. And parting From each other. We've tasted sorrow. We've trembled. For We’ve left behind A part of ourselves That only we Can make live In our minds. The part we left Here. 9 Times io I've spent Here everyday With you My friends. Feeling as if They would Never end. I failed To see That my hourglass Has Run short. My time Here Is over. And I'm saddened By all the things That I could have done. Yet. I’m content, I'm happy Seeing What am. I Am myself. For have been Here. 12 13 Laughter That echoed Through these rooms. Echoes now Only in my mind. Ghosts Of the joy I knew Here. Take me back To a time Gone away. My memories Of my yesterdays. Here. Where I laughed. Where I cried. Where I hoped And dreamed For all our Tomorrows. And my world goes On and on. When want joy. When I want tears. I recall Here. by Tammie Davis 15 ORGANIZATIONS 1 H Our main business is not to see what lies dimly at a distance, but to do what lies clearly at hand. — James M. The Lady Bulldogs consisted of Coach Karen Watson, thirteen players, and manager Carol Jean Smith. During the four months of basketball season, these fifteen people were not only a team, but also a family and the gym was their home away from home.” Many things knitted this team together: determination, dedication, and that common goal of winning for which all were striving. The Lady Bulldogs made many memories for themselves. Who could forget practicing and practicing that already-perfect lay-up, or all those foul shot games, or the hundreds of suicides that were run? But when the buzzer sounded and the scoreboard showed the Bull- dogs victorious, not one of the Lady Bulldogs could begrudge one second of any of those long hard practices. Even if no one remembers the 79-80 Lady Bulldogs for their winning season or for the skill and potential which they possessed, one can be certain that the Bulldogs will remember each other for the times they shared as a team and a family. As the last girl walked through the archway, the band be- gan a drumroll. The special moment had arrived — the 1979-80 MHS Homecoming Queen was Miss So- nya Adams. Amid applause from the stands, a radiant Sonya was presented with a bouquet of roses from last year’s queen. Missi Wil- liams, and crowned by Superinten- dent John Jordan.
