FOREWORD With our fingers crossed and a catch in our breath we submit for your approval the new 1953 KANUHSHETA. We have tried by word and picture to put into this volume a cross section of campus life—its works, its aims, its successes. In later years as you turn these pages, if you can recapture the spirit of youth that pervades a high school campus, if you can recall with a chuckle the jaunts and capers of your fellow students, if you can live again your days at Murphy High School, this book will have fulfilled its aim. DEDICATION The seniors of 1953 wish to dedicate their annual to a man of foresight and unswerving purpose, who always defends what he believes to be right. Having first weighed a question carefully, he decides in favor of that which is best for our school. He is a man who by his sincerity of manner, his liberal expenditure of time, and his untiring efforts has promoted scholastic endeavors and stu- dent cooperation that cannot be surpassed on any campus. So it is with grateful hearts that we dedicate this first KANUHSHETA to our Superintendent, Hieronymus Bueck.
