Decorating Homestead Hospital for Christmas and collecting money for the Hope and Cancer Society are only a few of the many services the club has rendered to the community. No task assigned to the “Key Clubbers” is ever too large. These boys sold programs at football games, sponsored a dance and Playhouse party, and printed the ever-popular “Munkey”, their weekly paper. These tours of Pittsburgh offices also gave the girls an insight into the environment and job a person in the business world occupies. Completing a most rewarding year for the F. B. L. A scholarship for an outstanding senior entering the teaching profession was also given. The Future Teachers of America this past year truly aided its members in deciding upon their professions. What could be a better way to use and enjoy a language than at the Latin Hootenany which the league attended at St. Vincent College? Latin was used there both in song and speech. The club again journeyed to St. Vincent’s where they attended and enjoyed their State Convention. Many are now also starting to pack for the National Convention which will be held at the University of Arizona this summer. Through these and other activities, the members were made to see the importance of Latin and the rewards it offers. Dave Vojtko, Jack Warrick, Dan Fisher, Bill Smutny SPANISH CLUB “Grande” can be the only word used to describe the Spanish Club of 1966-67. The organization was large both in size and purpose. For this year, the money derived from car washes, dances, and bake-sales was put into a fund which will one day be used to send five students to Mexico. What can be a better way to further understand the Spanish language and culture than by the exchange student program? Among their activities were a Christmas and skating party, and a Scrabble tournament. At the Final Senior Assembly, the organization awarded a French dictionary to the upper classman with the highest achievement in this modern language. By presenting this award, the club continued to stimulate future interest and study in the popular French language. Officers: Seated (I. to r.) Audrey Noble. This is especially true for the seven boys and girls who had previously been elected to the court by the senior students. The announcement of the King and Queen and the music furnished by the Lively Ones highlighted an evening to remember. 97 Other couples join in the fun Jack and Carol led the way . . . as the others awaited their grand entrance. Everyone danced to the music by “The Lonely Ones.” 98 Showing outstanding faithfulness, helpfulness, and ability this year, have been the members of Munhall’s Stage Guild. This group is made up of “men behind the scenes”. Each morning’s meditations could not have been broadcast without their aid. They also gave assistance to the Vanguard, band and choir concerts and other activities held in the auditorium. Through these deeds the boys have aided their school and have gained for themselves a sense of satisfaction and technical experience concerning the stage. Through these two one-act plays, Mr. Busch was able to involve a great number of students either on or behind the stage. Mayhem, adapted from the play, Wits End by Wall Spence, related the story of the mad doctor, Jeffrey Damon, and his efforts to find a pituitary gland for his acromegalic daughter Sheila. Mirth, written by Mr. Busch, was set in a girls’ dormitory. The story revolved around the talent contest held at the school. Complicating the situation were Beans, the boyfriend of Diz, and, of course, the inimitable dean Miss Myrtle Smudge and her lover, Archibald. Through the unique and talented production of these plays, future recollections will provide fond and pleasant memories for both actor and viewer. 103 The fun has just begun MOONLIGHT MEMORIES Starry eyed couples were seen arriving at the Penn-Sheraton Ballroom in April for the 1965-1966 Junior-Senior Prom. Pastel gowns and crisp tuxedos formed a color wheel as the couples danced to the music of the Nick Lomakin Orchestra. At 12:30 a motorcade of prom-goers traveled to the Holiday House where the post prom party was held. Providing the entertainment for the evening included Al Martino, the Tymes, and Herald Betters. When 5:30 came, all agreed that they certainly had an evening of “Moonlight Memories”. “Why else would I be dressed like this? 104 PROM i Hola muchachos!
