BETA CLUB The first Beta Kappa Club at Munford was organized in 1937. Since that time the club has made considerable progress. To be a member of the Beta Club, a student must have an average of at least eighty-five and must be an out- standing character. When a student joins the Beta Club, he is given a membership pin and card, a certificate, and each month thereafter he receives a copy of the Beta Journal. The meetings are held once each month on the third Thursday night. Our first meeting of the year was held in the school auditorium and each succeeding one at the home of some member. After attending the Beta Convention at Nashville last year, the members were more interested than ever and lost no time '42-'43. in getting the club organized for the year of The officers are: James Moore, Jr., presidentg Evelyn Pouncey, vice-presidentp James McCormick, sec- retaryg program Miss Chapter think a Helen Baddour, treasurer, Evelyn Fleother, -chairman, and Whnda Fletcher, reporter. Gwinn has served as sponsor of the Munford of this club since its organization, and we don't better sponsor could be found. Thirteen new members were initiated into the club, making a total of twenty-one members. The Beta Club members have taken part in all of the school activities, including the nJeep Campaignn. In addition to this, they have collected money for the Red Cross and helped inthe Food Rationing Program and sale of nLiliesn for donations for the crippled children.

BETA CLUB - Continued The members are: Helen Baddour, James Albert Cole- man, Sue Coleman, Julius Davenport, Mary Alice Delashmit, Polly Doyle, Carolyn Ellis, Frances Bmbry, Velma Embry, Evelyn Fletcher, Whnda Fletcher, Leonard Glidewell, Jean Glover, Betty Krone, James Stewart McCormick, Virginia McCormick, Herbert Massey, Jr., James Moore, Jr., Betty Reese Murphy, Evelyn Pounoey, and Ann Simonton. HOME ECONOMICS CLUB We, the Home Economics Club, began our club work considerably well this year with the cooperation of our new teacher, Miss Hatfield. The regular initiation of the freshmen came the first of December. To top it off, we entertained them with a Party- Miss Hatfield and a committee planned a Christmas party for us, which was held in the Home Economics room. we put on a radio program in chapel one morning and sold war stamps as our advertisement. With the money received from the program, we made improvements in our Home Economics department. we entertained the mothers with a Silver Tea in the early spring. Following the tea, the ladies were favored with a fashion show. we have accomplished much this year, but hope to do even more next year. Our club officers are as follows: President, Lorraine Mcmilling vice president, Jean Glover, and secretary-treasurer, Jean Sturdivant.
