XVhat! Mc dangle a participle? It may be Spanish, but it's Greek tu me. LANGUAGE The Language Department is composed of two sections-English and Modern Languages. In the English Department, the students vocabulary is in- creased each vear, basic rules are reviewed, new vvorlt is introduced, and literature of the various nations is presented in stages. Through class dis- cussions, compositions, speeches, and dramatic ac- tivities, the student improves his oral and written work. The Modern Language Department offers a student a second and even a third language, name- lv Spanish and French. History helps us to understand the rise, progress, and decline of the human race bv unfolding the past and explaining continuing effects upon current problems. Ceographv survevs the phvsical characteristics of the world in which we live and relates human activities and relations to geographical factors. Civics helps us to comprehend the need for group action in our families, schools, community, and government. It also deals with the individuals role within groups and acquaints us with the social world. Problems of Democracv confronts us with pres- entfdav problems of our school, state, nation, and world. and launches us into the inquirv and plan- ning which must underlie sound democratic action. These subjects-initiallv a quick overview, sub- sequently a more thorough studv-constitute our schools program of Citizenship Education.
