Matty' parties and special programs were held by clubs and classes during the holiday season and throughout the year. Spanish and French classes had the benefits of oral practice when they gave Fhristmas skits in their language, while a Latin class witnessed some beatniks at their holiday at'l'air. lt was a race for candy when Spanish stu- dents broke the pinata, a container full of candy at their Yuletide party. Record hops, proms, balls-we danced hour after hour at club and class-sponsored dances throughout the year. We attended all types of festivities from informal record hops, with skirts, sweaters. shirts, and jeans, to dreamy, sto1'ybook proms with filmy gowns or starched, white shirts and impressive dark suits. A special hop was even highlighted by a prince and princess of comedy and tragedy. when Central's Thespians gave a sport dance with royal election ofthe reigners ol' the record romp. Jim Clevenger. junior, and Pat Hiatt. senior. Traditionally highlighting the spring season lor '60 were the Junior-Senior Prom and the Senior Ball, held in the Ball State Student Center, to round out our year of social events.

The annual happenings which have been occurring for many years, filled our days throughout the year with many memories. Something which happens twice per year, and is a not too pleasant task, is enrollment. Although this is a yearly must, that stack of cards seemed to be even more endless this year, especially for Trade Schoolers, who filled out two extra blanks. Another has-to-be-donew was our paying of book fees, when we stood in line for what seemed like many hou1's. Depending on the person, those indispensable lockers were cleaned out at various times during the school year. Actually. when we finished them, some- times they didn't look much better than before-but at least we tried! Toward the middle of the year came one of the most fun-filled events of the term-the tourneys. Decorating our cars and buses, yelling our hearts out, and making sure not to lose any belongings in the crowds were all a part of a memorable '60 tourney. Then winding up the year, one day a massive crowd formed in the front hall, auditorium, and on the front stairway to sign yearbooks. This day, with all its laughter, broken pencils and dry pens, we'll certainly never forget. A rarely ol7serl'ea' CHS, custom is that of locker clean-up. Here Plzyllis Hanzmonrl, l'arol Hotlinger, A llcn Floolc, and Roland l'orneyfi11il amusing collector items among their lot.
