That geometric principle known as a theorem means a sweat- ing solution for a problem to seniors Joe Faris and Pearley Cunningham. Sponsoring math enthusiasts is Mr. Ramon Avila. Discussion topics are careers, college math, and future projects. Figures and symbols were the prominent characteristics this year when Math Club held its regular bi-monthly meetings on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Joe Rankin held the top office in Math Club with such assistants as Bob Noble, vice-presidentg Gwynne Williams, secretaryg Bill Sutters, treas- urerg Dan Milhollin, sefgeant-at-arms, and Mr. Ramon Avila, sponsor. To present the different phases of mathemat- ics in such a manner as to stimulate its members is the purpose of the club. To be eligible for mem- bership in the club, a student must be enrolled in a mathematics course, and must have completed one semester of mathematics at Central, main- taining at least a C average. The group had several guest speakers during the year. Dr. Forbes, a professor from Purdue University, addressed the club on two occasions. All clubs must add new members if they are to succeed, and, likewise, Math Club accepted ap- proximately 30 new pledges into membership. Rough initiation was an exhausting, non-mathe- matical exertion, as the president stated.
