Dine Exotically Soyez La Mienna, or, for those several non- French speaking students in our midst, Be Mine. Expressions comparable to this were used on fancy valentines and cards when the French Club held its Valentine Day breakfast. Trinka Small presided over the group during the year, and other officers were Jill Hartley, vice- presidentg Sandy Turner, secretary, Kay Steven- son, treasurer. Miss Linden was sponsor. Although the club had no regular meeting nights, the members managed to come together on several occasions to hear French speakers and to eat French food. At one meeting, Central and Bur- ris French students joined in a carry-in dinner. During the evening four guest speakers answered questions about French that the students had stud- ied. Again at Yuletide the club had another party which featured not only typical French Christmas dishes but also another French speaker who re- lated French customs. Also featured during the year was a field trip to Ball State College to hear the Les Chanteurs de Paris sing in French. To be eligible for membership in French Club, a student must have completed one year of French, as the club's purpose is to study the French people, customs, and food besides what is learned in reg- ular classroom discussion. The expansion in the number of students taking Latin and joining Junior Classical League this year once again swelled to an all-time high. President of the organization this year was Mike Johnston, and other officers included Mary Jane Current, co-president, Barbara Franks, sec- retaryg Bill Sutters, treasurerg Bernie Anderson and Ann Abel, sergeants-at-arms: Jane Brown, reporterg and Mr. Robert Hancock, sponsor. With such a vast number of members in the club, group gatherings were necessarily limited to three: a fall initiation, a winter banquet, and the Olympic games which are held each spring. Eligibility for membership in the club is at- tained by students who are taking Latin at the time when the club initiates new members, or by students who have previously had two years of Latin.
