Several of the guys and gals spent the summer in other cities and states, while others went to the lakes. And some of us stayed right here at home, too! But everybody seems to have had loads of fun. When the bell rang, we reported first to the auditorium to meet Mr. Chastain, our new principal. He made a fine impression, and everyone looks forward to a swell year. (Wonder what kind of impression we made on him?) The 1948 Magician SEPTEMBER 8, 1947 Then, as usual, reported to the rooms where we were to meet our COUNSELORS to get our programs. When some of us were comparing our schedules to see if we had drawn the same classes, it dawned upon us that for seniors this is the last September ive’ll report to Central. OUR SENIOR YEAR !. New lights, new paint job on the walls, new finish for the floor, and Venetian blinds make it a very attractive spot. Lucky Central, the only school in Indiana to receive such an outfit! Crapo has presented a new Hammond electric organ to Central High. It is in memory of her brother, the late Fred D. Kitselman. The new organ replaces one given to Central several years ago by her mother in honor of Mr. Kitselman. The first organ is now to be used in the music rooms. Nice to have such generous people in Muncie. NEW KITSELMAN MEMORIAL ORGAN Mary Alice Zctterberg, senior organist, at the console of the Kitselman organ. Commencement is here! Never thought the day would come, hut now it’s hard to believe that this is the end of our happy times at Central. And such times as we’ve had. All our commencement activities began on April 16 with our beautiful “Deep Purple” senior dance. We entertained our mothers at the annual tea on May 12. The annual Junior-Senior Prom was held on May 14. The senior banquet on May 25 was one of the highlights of the year. Baccalaureate services were on May 30, when we wore our caps and gowns for the first time. And now our final appearance as Central seniors! This has been a busy year for all of us and especially for our officers. We had four career conferences on February 3, February 24, March 23, and April 12. Local service clubs brought speakers to discuss various types of work in which we had indicated an interest. Colleges sent representatives for our College Conference Day on December 3. We’ve had parties, programs, and dances. Yes, we’ve had a busy year. The 1948 Magician 75 SENIORS OF 1948 Row 1: ETTA JANE ACTON — Robed Choir, Office Page, Sophomore Council, “Musical Moods” . . .
