Guidance Committee I I1 Io rwhl Vlrs Irma B Christy supervisor of guidance in the city schools R D Shaffer principil Mrs Cilidvs A Townsend Hom sophomore sponsor Miss Maude Michael general member this year Miss Kith llll ll0I' SPOHSOI' Advisory Program guidance program this year has stressed military needs and the shortages 1n civilian occupations Information concerning the various branches of the armed forces has been made available and a special bulletin distributed under the auspices of the state department of public instruction was given to all boys sev enteen years or older 'I wice during the year programs for girls interested 1n the U Q Cadet Nurses Corps were also held Qeniors were also given mate rnl about eollege offerings As a part of the regular testing program at Central all incoming sopho mores this year were given 1 number of tests designed to check various phases such as reading comprehension and aptitudes Juniors were tested for their knowledge of social science while Seniors were given a science achievement test and the Stanford Achievement Test in Mathematics H E Fenimore and Miss Josephine Clevenger directed the testing a phase of the state program Under Army and Navy auspices tests were also given by Mr Fenimore and Miss Clevenger to those boys interested in the Navy V 5 and V 12 and the Army A l2 programs More than Hfty boys from Central and surrounding schools reported for the tests during the year At the date of writing no results for the Army tests have been announced since the information is to be sent directly to the boys Five Central boys who took the Navy V 5 test have been notined of their acceptance and are already at work in assigned colleges I O leen Meehan. senior sponsor: Dr. W. l..
