Compliments of JONES-NESSLEY MOTOR COMPANY Crown Basketball Queen at Sock-hop Ko.st Anne Schlichter was crown- ed 1956 Basketball Queen by cap- tain Jim Prins at the Rock Around the Clock sock-hop in the Mulvane high school gym Saturday, Feb- ruary 25 at 7:30 p.m. Queen Kose Anne reigned over the sock-hop, which was held in the honor of tlie basketball boys, who elected the queen. Kay Dan- .cls, escorted by Gary Richards, and Karen JIarsh, escorted by Jerry ' c!i-l ' r, were tlie queen ' s atten- ' ' il all team formed an vcr and crown bearers, 1 ' anil Jay Leatherman, I ' lyalty procession to the , r.r.viiiui; ceremony held on the stage. Rose Anne held a bouquet of orchid chrysanthemums and a miniature white basketball auto- graplied by the tea m. Jim Prins, crowned her Basketball Queen of 1956 and bestowed the crowning kiss. Queen Rose Anne ' s crown was ornamented with orchid chrysan- ' themums. The attendants receiv- ed neck-scarfs and silver bracelets set with turquoise. A giant wliite alarm clock stood as the center floors decoration to carry out the theme, Rock Around the Clock. The clock ' s alarm went off at 9:00 for the crowning cere- mony. Black cut-outs of dancing couples on the gold stage curtain framed the silliouetted profiles of a girl and boy. Admission prices determined by the length of stockinged feet at the rate of a penny an inch, paid by the girl escorts, totaled $16.
