by Marty Backus Here it is 1975. With nothing to do this evening I decide to watch television. As I switch on the set, I see the news with news- caster Billy fCameronj Semones, who is broadcasting the headline news of the day. It has just been reported that Space Cadets Merle Johnson, Buddy Cumby, Tommy Elkins, and Gene Armantrout are lost in the nothingness of outer space. The next news item is that the President of the Unitdl States, George Nolley, has appointed the former Miss Carolyn Worrell to be the first woman to serve on the U. S. Supreme Court, also millionaire Pam Sampson has just bought Wall Street from Charles Green. Then comes the sports news, and much to my surprise the sportscaster is Tex QRedJ Mullens. The top sports news is the world heavy weight championship fight in which John QRockyj Simmons defeated Jeff QHurricanej Houck in a fifteen round thriller. .Last night the American Legion of Mullens had a wrestling match, and the main event was a tag match in which Bobby QTigerj Sclater and Jessie QKillerQ Bonar defeated Roger lTottiej Henderson and Jan lHunkyj Wilcox. Butch Hen sley , Gene Miller, and Walter Kelley have just led the Yankees to another World Series victory. Today the Chicago Cubs signed Jim McClain as their manager. After the sports news, the weather report is given by Myra Qwinniej Nichols. Now it's time for the commercials, The first one is for the ROCKET POWER GAS STATIONS. This is a chain of sta- tions owned by Myron Legg, Kenneth Vaughan, and Teddy Billings, The next commercial is for the famous movie stars Peggy Sue Lusk and Kenneth Brooks, who demonstrate the new Straight Flight Atom Car, which was invented by Jesse Lewis, Ralph Rinehart, and Bobby Tabor. The next show I see is the famous Music Busic Show with the Master of Ceremonies, Jim Rasnake, The first group introduced is the Melody Larks, composed of La Wonne Bowling, Sandra Carte, Tommy Jean Hash and Winona Clark, They sing Don't Go Away Mad: Just Go Away. Their accompanist is Eva Sue Williams. After their song, the famous band the Hotshots, consisting of Joe Q88 Keys! Lyttle, on piano, Dale Tilley playing first sax, Tug Houck second sax, on the drums, Marvin lwildcatl Boggs, and on the steel guitar the leader of the band, Sonny QRock All Nighty Adams, play some popular songs of the day. After the Hotshots, comes the show's special guest, that world renoun singer Marty QElvisl Backus, singing his latest hit Cheer Up, Everything Is Gonna Be Awful. Then Howard Kelly does a. singing commercial for Hotgate tooth- paste. A news flash interrupts the programg and Wanda Compton is calling for all Volunteer Firemen of the Mullens Fire Department. Firechief-Jim Frank, Firemen-Donald Duncan, Roger Baker, Donald Heslep, Joe Houston, and Glen Shrewsbury are to report to Marie Adams and Janice Akers' brand new Drive -Inn . It is located at Allen Jct. and is raging in flames. 32 J THE CLAS ' Q , 1 sf- ff , 4' -Q A-:W I fin ,Ja Mr' ,.
